Kool and the Gang to headline JZ Festival 2017
JZ Festival 2017 is set to be quite the celebration with cherished funk and soul outfit Kool and the Gang inviting you to 'Get Down On It' as they headline this year's edition of the long-running jazz fest. Led by Robert 'Kool' Bell, the Grammy-winning band have been funking things up since 1964 and have been confirmed as one of the main headliners for the event in mid-October.
Also confirmed for the Expo Garden Park are Andy Summers - the former guitarist for The Police, who will be bringing his Blue Falcons project to town - and renowned smooth jazz keys-man Jeff Lorber.
The final name to be released in this 'first wave' announcement is Chris Dave and the Drumhedz. Maybe 'Chris Dave' doesn't ring any bells, but some of the albums he's been a key part of likely will: Adele's 21, Justin Bieber's Purpose, Anderson .Paak's Malibu, D'Angelo's Black Messiah and Robert Glasper's Black Radio and Double-Booked. Safe to say he's an impressive stickman.
Ticket info and all that jazz is still yet to come, but we can tell you that the festival will be running over the weekend of October 14-15, with a Friday night show in a concert hall (probably at Shanghai Centre) to kick things off.
